{"id":2637,"date":"2012-03-04T17:04:28","date_gmt":"2012-03-04T22:04:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/iheartkids.smcse.com\/kid-philanthropists\/"},"modified":"2012-03-04T17:04:28","modified_gmt":"2012-03-04T22:04:28","slug":"kid-philanthropists","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iheartkids.com\/kid-philanthropists\/","title":{"rendered":"Philanthropists Who Are Kids"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This is what I call INSPIRATIONAL SUNDAY!<\/p>\n<p>These Young Philanthropists deserve the spotlight more than any reality star, awards show or celebrity gossip!<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: x-large;\">Abby Miller<\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/uFwDQ-SoSME\" frameborder=\"0\" width=\"600\" height=\"315\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Abby Miller is a 12-year-old musician who collects donations for 4-year-old Taylor Love, who suffers from neuroblastoma, a form of cancer affecting the nervous system.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: x-large;\">Olivia Bouler<\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/YQzDEpR1zxs?feature=player_embedded\" frameborder=\"0\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Olivia Bouler is an 11-year-old artist who has raised over $200,000 for the National Audubon Society, which is hard at work rescuing birds affected by the BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: x-large;\">Cameron Cohen<\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/i7YW8Q1Qgs0?feature=player_embedded\" frameborder=\"0\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Cameron Cohen was 11-years old when he was stuck at home with a hip-to-toe brace following bone tumor surgery. Cameron spent his downtime learning software development. He then used his mad skillz to design \u2018iSketch\u2019, a drawing program now available on the iPhone App Store. Cameron donates a portion of his earnings to purchase electronic and entertainment items for other pre-teens to enjoy during their hospitalization.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: x-large;\">Jordan Somer<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-2645\" title=\"Jordan Somer\" src=\"https:\/\/iheartkids.smcse.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/nk361_001b.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"400\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jordan Somer is a Nebraska teen who founded the \u201cMiss Amazing\u201d pageant, an event for girls and women coping with physical and mental disabilities. The event focuses on all participants gaining confidence and revealing their true beauty. Jordan started the event in 2006, as a way to combine her own pageant experience with her Special Olympics volunteer work.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: x-large;\">Phoebe Russell<\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/0GpsJxiBAC4?feature=player_embedded\" frameborder=\"0\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>5-year-old Phoebe Russell needed to complete a community service project before she could graduate from kindergarten. Uninterested in a lemonade stand, she saw a homeless man begging for food and decided to raise $1,000 for the San Francisco Food Bank. \u00a0Before she knew it, Phoebe had raised $3,736.30\u2013 the equivalent of 17,800 heated meals.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: x-large;\">Zach Bonner<\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/1v7yHXJe__s?feature=player_embedded\" frameborder=\"0\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>After hurricane Charlie hit Florida in 2005, Zach Bonner collected water bottles in his neighborhood using a little red wagon. By the end of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iheartkids.com\/charityapplication\/\">charity<\/a> drive, he had 27 truckloads of aid. And he was just getting started.\u00a0In 2007, Zach began a three-stage \u201cMy House to the White House\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iheartkids.com\/charityapplication\/\">charity<\/a> march, to raise money for homeless children.\u00a0In 2010 Zach\u2019s \u2018March Across America\u201d took him 2,448 miles from Tampa to Los Angeles, culminating in a meeting with Elton John, who contributed $25,000 to the Little Red Wagon Foundation.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: x-large;\">Harry Moseley<\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/NCPbdQ9tl4k?feature=player_embedded\" frameborder=\"0\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Harry Moseley is a nine-year-old from Sheldon, Birmingham, UK. He lives with an inoperable brain tumor, but this hasn\u2019t stopped him from making and selling beaded bracelets for Brain Tumour UK. His bracelets are now available in over 30 shops across Britain, and so far he\u2019s raised over \u00a315,000.<\/p>\n<p>Harry also gives PowerPoint presentations to school kids, and encourages them to set up bracelet making clubs. Harry\u2019s system gives 15p from every bracelet sold to the kids\u2019 school and the rest goes to Brain Tumour UK.
